1.1 Scope This specification applies to surge suppression varistors that protect electronic devices or other surge sensitive devices from damage in direct power sources or AC power sources with frequencies not exceeding 400Hz. Varistors that fall within the scope of this sub specification shall not be used as the main protective element for lightning surge protection. 1.2 Purpose The purpose of this specification is to specify priority values and characteristics for this type of varistor, and to select applicable quality assessment procedures, testing and measurement methods from the general specification GB/T 10193-1997, as well as to provide general characteristic requirements.
