Testing of Class 1E cables for nuclear power plants

This standard specifies the categories, general requirements, quality appraisal rules, test methods, and documents to be submitted for Class 1E cables used in nuclear power plants. This standard applies to IE grade cables and wires used in nuclear power plants, and also applies to cables and wires inside 1E grade equipment in nuclear power plants. Class 1E cables used in nuclear power plants include power cables, control cables, communication cables, instrument cables, thermal compensation cables, and other types. The operating conditions and functional characteristics of various cables vary, and the special requirements for Class 1E cables in nuclear power plants related to cable types are specified in subsequent product standards. This standard only specifies the general requirements and the most basic Class 1E quality identification requirements for Class 1E cables used in nuclear power plants. 2 Normative References: The clauses in the following documents become clauses of this standard through reference in this standard.
