1.1 Scope of Application This standard provides a recommended implementation method for developing procedures that can generate data to verify that Level 1E equipment can meet its performance requirements after a safe shutdown earthquake (or extreme safety earthquake site SSE) period after several operating reference earthquakes (or operating safety ground motion OBE). This (recommended) implementation method can be used to determine experiments or analyses that can yield data, to demonstrate equipment performance requirements, or as part of the entire qualification work to evaluate and verify the performance of sample devices and components. 1.2 Reference standards. This (recommended) implementation method must be used in conjunction with the following editions (standards): ANSI/IEEE I00-1984 Dictionary of Electrical and Electronic Terminology [2ANS1/1EEE 323-1983 Quality Qualification of IE Class Equipment in Nuclear Power Plants [ANSI/IEEE 382-1985 Quality Qualification of Power Operated Valve Components with Safety Related Functions in Nuclear Power Plants MIL-s 90IC-1962 Impact Testing Requirements for High Impact Marine Machinery, Equipment, and Systems, OCFR Energy Chapter 1, Nuclear Regulatory Commission
