This part of BS 1363 applies to the requirements for 13A, with and without switches, and with protective door sockets for household, commercial, and light industrial purposes, with special reference to safety in normal use. According to BS 1363-1: 1995, this socket is only suitable for connecting portable devices, audio devices, and lighting fixtures in alternating current with a voltage not exceeding 250Vr.m.s. and 50Hz. It specifies the requirements for 13A, with protective door sockets, with or without related control switches in single or multiple connections, for concealed installation (such as complying with BS 4662), or for surface or wired installation, or portable use in suitable installation boxes. Fixed sockets should be used with wires with red copper conductors that comply with BS 6004:2000 or BS 6007:2000. Portable sockets should be used in conjunction with flexible cords that comply with BS 6500:2000. The devices included in the socket, excluding fuses, switches, and indicator lights, are outside the scope of this part of BS 1363. Note 1: Publications related to this part of BS 1363 are listed on the inner back cover. Note 2: To maintain the safety and replaceability of plugs and sockets, such products must comply with the requirements of clauses 9, 12, and 13 in this part of BS 1363. However, its main contour does not need to be limited to a distance of 6.35mm from the mating surface of the plug. Note 3: Electromagnetic compatibility is not given due to the following reasons: sockets with or without switches do not emit excessive electromagnetic interference because electromagnetic interference only occurs during discontinuous plugging. The construction of sockets with or without switches is mechanical, so this product is not affected by electromagnetic interference. 2. Service conditions: The socket is suitable for use under the following conditions: a) In an environment with an ambient temperature of -5 ℃ to+40 ℃ and an average value of no more than 25 ℃ for 24 hours. Note: Under normal usage conditions, the existing air is affected by temperature changes in the natural atmosphere. Therefore, the highest temperature only occurs during the hot season, and high temperatures do not persist. b) Not exposed to direct sunlight or other heat sources to avoid temperature rise exceeding the limits in a). c) The altitude shall not exceed 2000m above sea level. d) Not subject to abnormal pollution from smoke, chemical gases, rainwater, fog, and prolonged high humidity or other abnormal conditions.
