This part of GB 12668 specifies the requirements for electrical, thermal, and energy safety related to variable speed electrical transmission systems or their components. Except for interface requirements, this section does not cover the driven equipment. This section is applicable to speed control electrical transmission systems including power converter equipment, transmission control equipment, and electric motors. But it does not include traction transmission and electric vehicle transmission. This section is applicable to DC transmission systems with AC power supply voltages of 1kV and below, 50 Hz or 60 Hz, as well as AC transmission systems with converter input or output voltages of 35 kV and below, 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The other parts of the "Speed Regulating Electrical Transmission System" involve regulations on rated values, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and functional safety. If the equipment used as a component of the Electrical Drive System (PDS) meets the safety requirements of the relevant product standards in the corresponding environment, then the scope of this section does not include these equipment. For example, the motors used in PDS should comply with the requirements of relevant parts of 1EC 60034. Unless otherwise specified, the requirements of this section apply to all parts of PDS, including CDM/BDM (see Figure 1).
