Scope and Purpose
This section of "Low Voltage Switchgear and Control Equipment" applies to control circuit appliances and switch components used for control, signal indication, interlocking, and other purposes in switchgear and control equipment This section is applicable to control circuit appliances with rated voltage AC not exceeding 1000 V (frequency not exceeding 1000 Hz) or DC not exceeding 600 V For control circuit appliances with a working voltage below 100 V AC or DC, see 4.3.2.2. This section applies to the following types of control circuit appliances:
- manually operated control switches, such as buttons, rotary switches, foot switches, etc
- Electromagnetic operated control switch with delayed or instantaneous action, such as contactor type relay;
- Indicating switch, such as pressure switch, temperature sensitive switch (thermal switch), programmable controller, etc
- Position switch, such as a control switch operated by a machine or a part of a machine
- Relevant control circuit appliances, such as indicator lights Note 1: Control circuit appliances include control switches and related appliances, such as indicator lights Note 2: Control switches include switching components and operating systems Note 3: Switching elements can be contact elements or semiconductor components
This section also applies to specified types of switching components associated with other electrical appliances (whose main circuit meets other standards), such as:
- auxiliary contacts of switching appliances (such as contactors, circuit breakers, etc.), which are not only used for controlling the coils of switching appliances
- Interlocking contacts on the shell door
- Control circuit contact of rotary switch;
- Control circuit contact of overload relay Contactor type relays should not only comply with the usage categories specified in this section, but also comply with the relevant requirements and tests of IEC 60947-4-1:2009+Al: 2012 This part does not include relays or automatic electrical control devices for household and similar purposes mentioned in the GB/T 14598 or IEC 61810 series standards
