Scope and Objects
This section of LEC 60349 applies to the commutation AC motors that make up electric track and road vehicle equipment The purpose of this section is to enable the performance of the motor to be determined through testing and to provide a basis for evaluating its suitability for a specified duty and comparing it with other motors If further testing is to be carried out in accordance with IEC 61377-1 and IEC 61377-3, it is best to conduct some type and investigation tests on a joint test bench to avoid duplication It should be noted that as detailed in 5.1, there is a need for collaboration between motorcycle designers and the designers of their related converters Note 1: This section also applies to electric motors installed on trailers towed by powered vehicles
Note 2: The basic requirements of this section can be applied to electric motors of special purpose vehicles, such as minesweepers, but this section does not include flameproof or other special features that may be required Note 3: This part is not intended to apply to motors on small road vehicles, such as battery powered delivery vehicles, factory trucks, etc. This section is also not applicable to small machines, such as windshield wiper motors, which can be applied to all types of vehicles
Note 4: Industrial motors that meet the requirements of iec 60034 may be suitable for certain auxiliary drives, as long as it is demonstrated that operation on the converter power supply will meet the requirements of the specific application
